Built for people who have never seen a lock pick

Tom starts at the very beginning, with close-up cameras on the lock so nobody has to guess what his hands are doing. The locks are transparent, so everyone can see the pins move. 99.9% of people open their first lock in the session.

Nobody's watching. Everyone's picking.

Getting a remote team to actually take part, not just keep their cameras on, is hard. Here, every attendee has their own lock in their hands. The whole group stays together for the whole event, with no breakout rooms. Faster learners get extra challenges, so nobody sits waiting. Between locks, Tom tells stories from his pen-testing years, like the time he infiltrated an international airline and made off with the CEO's personal data, using the power of donuts.

You send a guest list. We handle the rest.

Send us the addresses, and we ship and track a kit to every attendee two weeks before your event. We send the invites and reminders, and on the day we run the event. We ship across North America, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand, for groups of 8 to 2,000.

How the event works

Most people have never seen the inside of a lock. By the end of this session, your team will have opened one without the key.

    Book and send your guest list
    Pick a 60- or 90-minute session, then send us everyone's shipping address.
  2. 2
    Kits arrive two weeks before
    Every attendee gets lock picks, tension bars and three transparent practice padlocks, packed and shipped from our own facility.
  3. 3
    Join the event
    Everyone joins on Zoom, Teams or the platform you already use, and Tom teaches the group live.
  4. 4
    Keep picking
    The kit is theirs to keep, with a lock left over to practice on. Tom stays on for 30 minutes afterward to answer questions.

Questions

Can you ship to our country?

We ship across North America, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand. For anywhere else we'll do our best, but it isn't always possible. Send us the list of countries and we'll confirm before you book. International addresses may need a little extra time, so book early.

Is delivery really included?

For 99.99% of addresses, yes. Very remote addresses may have a surcharge. We once shipped a kit to the Arctic Circle.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

You can cancel up to 14 days before your event. You can reschedule up to 2 hours before it starts.

Can we pay by invoice?

Yes. Payment needs to be settled before we ship the kits.

Can you record the session?

Yes. We can record it for anyone who can't attend live.

Does Tom host every event himself?

Yes. Tom hosts every Learn Lock Picking event personally.

Can we make it feel like our company's event?

Yes. We can add custom trivia and inside jokes, and set up a branded page to collect your team's addresses.

Can we use this for a sales kickoff or customer event?

Yes. We've hosted hundreds of sales kickoffs, plus marketing events, product launches and customer pitches. Companies have reported higher customer engagement after adding these events to their pipeline.

Is lock picking legal?

In most countries, yes. Outside the US, Canada, the UK and the EU, check your local laws before the event. For US attendees, TOOOL has a good guide to lock picking laws.

Meet your host

I'm Tom. I used to be a physical penetration tester, which is a fancy way of saying I broke into buildings for a living (legally). I once infiltrated an international airline and made off with the CEO's personal data, using the power of donuts. Ask me about it during the event. It's a great story.

If you're the one planning your team's event, you know the hard part. Getting a remote team to actually take part, not just keep their cameras on, is difficult, and your name is on the invite.

So I built this event around one moment: the lock opening. I'm a certified technical trainer, and everything in the session is designed to get every person there.

Since 2020 I've taught over 10,000 people this way, and 99.9% of them opened their first lock in the session. I'd like your team to be next.
